‘Tis the season for craft shows but none as big as the One Of A Kind show, where you can find over 800 North American artists, makers designers and craftsperson’s selling everything from food to clothes. Running every year in December since 1975 it has expanded to include a complementary spring show since 1979.
Hosted at the Direct Energy Centre at the Exhibition Place the Christmas show runs from November 28th to December 8th and it’s here where you can find some talented Sheridan Textiles Alumni, I took a trip to this huge show to see what they where up to.
Katie Walker Designs

Katie Walker graduated from the program in 2011 and since then has dedicated her time creating her own studio business based in London, Ontario where she hand dyes, silkscreen prints and sews all her products, check out her website and online store here.

2007 graduate Noelle Hamlyn went on to study at the Art Institute of Chicago in 2009 and has since gone on to complete various residencies around the world, she is currently and Artist in Residence at the Living arts centre in Mississauga. Her work has been displayed world wide as in the International Craft Biennale in South Korea, the Love Lace International Lace Competition in Australia, the Biennale Internationale Du Lin Portneuf in Quebec and as part of the Cultural Olympiad in Vancouver to name a few, check out more of her work here.

Keri Rounding graduated from the program 2007 her works are created with handmade felt and free motion machine embroidery to produce wearable and decorative items, check out her online store here.

A collaborative art and design studio by 2009 graduates Meghan Macdonald and Rebecca Horwitz, all their products are designed, silkscreen printed and sewn in Toronto, Ontario, check out their website and online store here.

Anu Raina graduated from the program in 2010 and was accepted as an artist in residence at the Harbourfront Centre, that same year she presented her ready to wear clothing collection at the Toronto Fashion Week and has since been feature in several mainstream fashion and news publications, check out more of her work here.
