The Textiles Studio in the Craft & Design Program at Sheridan College offers an exciting four-year Bachelor program committed to teaching a diverse range of techniques, methods, and training in Textiles.

Taught by practicing professionals with extensive knowledge in historical textiles and contemporary practice, students engage in a dynamic curriculum through diverse hands-on techniques, materials, and processes through applicable 2D and 3D fibre – specific approaches. In addition, students build connections between artistic innovation, ideation, and skills, and learn how to initiate an idea from concept to creation.

Students gain knowledge and exposure in various aspects of Textiles through interdisciplinary collaborative projects, work placement programs, field trips, industry visits, visiting artists and lecturers, in-depth research, and studio-based work. Our graduates work as textile designers for industry, develop textiles for film and performance, start their own studios as independent designers and studio artists, create commission work, participate in residencies, work as educators, or continue to pursue their education in graduate studies.

Students experience a comprehensive range of approaches and techniques in the Textiles Studio, rooms AA03 & AA04. Our studio comprises of 3530 square feet of space, including; Print & Design Studio, Darkroom, Dye Lab, Weaving Studio, Sewing, Felting & Paper Area, and an outdoor Dye Garden.
